The Uppsala University is offering one scholarship to PhD students located in Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, or Hungary. The grant is called the PhD Student Visiting Scholarship and it is available at Institute of Russian and Eurasian Studies (IRES).
The scholarship will cover for a one-month fully-funded research visit at the Institute, and will also include a 10,000SEK stipend. Any travel and accommodation expense borne by the student will also be reimbursed as part of the student grants.
The Institute of Russian and Eurasian Studies is regarded as Uppsala University’s center of excellence, as it is known for offering a dynamic and open environment conducive for world-leading research. The application for the award will be written in English, hence interested candidates must have a good command of the English Language.
Application deadline: The deadline for the PhD Student Visiting Scholarship is March 31, 2018
Course level: The student grants is available for a month-long research visit at the Institute of Russian and Eurasian Studies.
Study subject: Grants will be awarded within the IRES
Scholarship award: The grants for school will cover for a month long fully-funded research at the institute, and would be inclusive of a 10,000 SEK stipend. Travel and accommodation expense will be reimbursed to the successful candidate. During the period of the research, successful candidate will have access to IRES premises as well as be provided with full resources of the Uppsala University Library. Also, during the course of the doctoral project, the student selected will be opportune to meet and integrate with IRES network of scholars, both within Uppsala and abroad. The research visit will be undertaken during the 2018 fall semester.
Number: Only one scholarship will be awarded.
Eligible countries: Foreign aspirants from all nations around the world are eligible to apply for this offer
Entrance requirements: Candidates must have entered their second year of studies to be considered eligible for this grants for school. Also, the applicant’s research topic must be related to research conducted at the institute. The selected candidate shall be based at any of the institution of higher education in one of these countries; Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic or Slovakia. The following criteria shall act as guide for the selection committee members;
- Applicants academic background
- Scholarly achievement
- Quality and relevance of the applicant’s doctoral project to the institute
English Language requirement: Applicants must have a good command of the English Language to be qualified for the student grants.
The following will be required of the applicant by the selection committee;
- Brief cover letter
- Brief description of doctoral project
All the above should not exceed four pages. The cover letter should highlight the relevance of the doctoral research to the Institute research program. The candidate must also state how a research visit will benefit their doctoral project, this will include a brief description of the activities the candidate plans to carry out during the visit. Preliminary dates for this visit should also be included.
